Job Description
About the Role
This role is Full Time, Term Time. The successful candidate will work 76 hours per fortnight during term-time only (approx. 38 weeks per year).
Across BGS Libraries, the Research Librarian has a dynamic role guiding and supporting students in accessing, evaluating and applying contemporary research methodologies to enhance learning and academic achievement. The position also promotes academic reading and writing and includes Readers’ Advisory services.
Working closely with the Director of Library Services and Teacher-Librarians, the Research Librarian:
Key Responsibilities
Library Services
Develops and promotes effective, engaging access to library resources and services
Supports students and staff in the use of the library’s digital environment, print collection and academic databases
Assists with staff professional development
Part of library team roster across library workspaces
Maintains and enhances the library’s online presence, including Research LibGuides
Curriculum & Learning
Collaborates with teachers to embed research skills, critical thinking and ethical information use across year levels
Supports the responsible and ethical use of AI and Digital Citizenship in academic research
Facilitates individual and group research help tutorials
Advocates for strong academic reading and writing practices
Contributes to reading initiatives, programs and events
Community Engagement
Provides exemplary customer service to all members of the school community
Supports library promotions, displays and advocacy initiatives
Fosters a welcoming, inclusive and supportive learning environment
