Job Description

About the Role

Brisbane Grammar School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance to join our respected institution. The successful candidate will demonstrate a propensity to thrive in an environment of high-performing personnel and who is passionate about education.

Positioning

The Director of Finance is a critical member of the School’s middle leadership team and reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  The Director of Finance leads a well-established team of eight highly effective individuals, including three qualified finance professionals.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Finance provides financial leadership and expertise to the School through:

  • Leadership and development of the Finance Team;
  • Business planning, budgeting and forecasting;
  • Management accounting, reporting and analysis;
  • Financial accounting and statutory reporting;
  • Governance reporting to the Board of Trustees;
  • Financial process excellence;
  • Payroll, payables and receivables;
  • Taxation compliance;
  • Treasury management;
  • Regulatory compliance; 
  • Legal support; and
  • Insurance and risk management.

Special Project

Brisbane Grammar School is currently developing and implementing a fit-for-purpose school ERP system in partnership with Microsoft and Atturra.  The Director of Finance will oversee the development and implementation of the Finance and Payroll modules of this project.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, or international equivalent;
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, or equivalent (Commerce / Law is an advantage); and
  • Cleared probity status, including maintaining a Working with Children Check (‘Blue Card’).
