Job Description

About the role

We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented Invigilator to support the smooth and fair conduct of school examinations. The role involves supervising students during assessments, ensuring exam protocols are followed, and maintaining a calm and focused environment. This position is ideal for someone with strong observational skills, a professional demeanor, and a commitment to academic integrity.

This is a casual role, aligned with the school’s exam schedule, offering a supportive team environment and meaningful contribution to student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure examinations are carried out in accordance with regulations, and provide students with a positive and supportive, yet compliant, exam experience.
  • Coordinate examinations, including preparing the room, opening and distributing papers and authorised materials, completing attendance registers, notifying students of start and finish times, collection of all materials at the end of the exam.
  • Student entry into the exam room is supervised by the Invigilator, and late students are briefed and seated with minimum disruption upon direction of the Invigilator.
  • Supervises students in an unobtrusive manner and responds to queries in accordance with exam regulations.
  • Invigilators are required on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year for internal examinations, with the busiest time being examination blocks.
  • Understands and communicates the School’s examination process and ethos.
  • Demonstrates an exemplary attitude to student care.
  • Is proactive with the ability to react positively to unexpected circumstances.
  • Maintains the confidence and respect of colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large numbers of people, particularly students.
  • Demonstrated a high-level attention to detail and strong administration skills to complete tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Safely conduct physical manual tasks unaided, including standing and walking for several hours at a time, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching and bending.
  • Demonstrated highly proficient digital literacy skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative and positive approach to work and working with others to achieve goals.
  • Well-developed communication and inter-personal skills which build and maintain effective and positive working relationships with immediate supervisors, colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise sensitivity and confidentiality in all dealings.

  • Able to acquire and maintain a positive notice for Working with Children (‘Blue Card’).
  • Ability to communicate in clear, spoken English.
  • Previous success delivering excellent customer service.
  • Experience working under pressure and capable of balancing competing demands.
