Job Description
About the Role
The IT Infrastructure Engineer provides support for the School’s IT infrastructure environment. The position provides the first tier of IT support to resolve service requests and liaises with the School’s Manage Service Providers (MSP) in the ongoing management of infrastructure.
The IT Infrastructure Engineer works in close collaboration with the school community and third party vendors to provide a seamless service for clients within BGS. The position supports the Director Infrastructure & Applications.
Roles may evolve and change over time, in line with the changing strategic and operational requirements of the organisation to deliver quality services to our community.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
To provide support of BGS’s IT infrastructure environment
To provide level 1 technical support for the School’s network and Azure platform environments
To log and track support tickets escalated to the School’s MSP’s for networks, infrastructure and cyber security
To assist with the resolution of level 1 infrastructure support tickets such as permissions/access, mailboxes, etc.
To utilise the School’s defined, formal change management procedures
To operate the School’s Service Desk and drive the ‘student first’ experience
To assist with the implementation and support of the audio-visual platforms in use at the School
To work collaboratively and cocreate with other IT support staff and members of the Digital Learning team
To assist the Director Infrastructure and Applications in the support of the School’s infrastructure and cyber security architecture
To contribute to, and assist with, projects within the Infrastructure and Applications area.
To deploy assets and other peripherals as required
To ensure the School's asset registers are maintained and accurate
To provide training in digital literacies and assisting the community in building digital competencies
To assist with the development of the IT knowledge base and self service
To contribute to development planning and digital projects for BGS’s infrastructure platforms
To assist in the increase in digital literacy and maturity of BGS workforce and students. Support the increase in digital maturity and literacy in accordance with the Digital Literacy strategy, framework, and metrics
The incumbent is required to undertake other duties, projects or tasks as directed, which are within his/her skills, competence, and training, and undertake job-specific training and development. Consultation will occur as part of this process.

Desired Skills and Experience
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Hold relevant tertiary qualifications; or relevant experience in IT or related fields
High level expertise in technical support of tablet PC and desktop computing and audio visual in a corporate environment
Demonstrated knowledge of IT service management methodologies (ITIL)
Demonstrated knowledge of digital learning and ways to increase digital literacy
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to achieve school objectives
Demonstrated ability to participate effectively in cross-disciplinary teams
Proven ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal means
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Professional accreditation relevant to the role
Knowledge of current and emerging trends relevant to education and digital learning technology
Specific knowledge and experience of the School’s IT software and hardware, particularly those involved in classroom delivery.
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage technical projects
