Job Description
About the Role
The primary purpose of the position is to ensure consistency of brand, messaging and imagery across all marketing and communications at Brisbane Grammar School. The Communications Manager is instrumental in the continued development of engaging, informative and strategic communications across online platforms and printed publications. The Communications Manager works collaboratively with the Community Relations team, and key stakeholders internally and externally to support the production of print publications and digital communications.
Duties
Management
Manage 1 direct report – Digital Communications Coordinator
External Communications
Oversee the School’s public relations strategy, responding to and preparing statements for media enquiries and times of crisis.
Support the team to plan, write and edit the School’s print and digital publications (including Grammar News,web news, newsletters and speeches)
Support the team to develop, publish and optimise content on the BGS website, including liaising with IT and web developers to enhance website functionality.
Support the team to develop and maintain high quality content for various social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and LinkedIn.
Oversee the digital content calendar, including planning and coordinating activities for various channels (website, email and social media), identifying opportunities and producing engaging and effective content.
Support the broader Marketing and Communications Team, Fundraising and BGS stakeholders with copywriting and editing of written material to ensure content aligns with the BGS brand.
Ensure compliance with data management protocols and email marketing.
Internal Communications
Lead key communications projects across the School to support key stakeholders, including the delivery of the School Information System project.
Work with internal stakeholders to prioritise, draft and publish Internal Communications messages via Teams, MyGrammar, the BGS Appand the BGS Newsletter
Oversee Internal communications systems and protocols, including school intranet publishing in collaboration with IT.
Support the delivery of the Annual School Magazine publication including writing, editing and proofing content.
Coordinate photos for the School Magazine, including photo schedules, photographer and staff requirements, and the approval process.
General
Work closely with the Graphic Designer to assist with the development of publications, templates and communications materials.
Liaise with key stakeholders to develop content for various School publications.
Participate proactively in team project initiatives.
Support other team members in periods of high demand and during periods of absence.
Participate in project groups and attend events as required.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or qualification in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing or similar.
5+ years’ experience in a digital communications or corporate communications role which includes online content development (web content, digital copy writing, social media, video or audio production, etc.), marketing communications or similar.
Strong communication skills across a variety of mediums.
A desire to develop further skills across a variety of platforms and programs commonly used in BGS digital communications, including but not limited to MS SharePoint, content management systems, Adobe Creative Suite, Meta, Google Analytics and Vision6 (email platform).
Experience in managing social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube in an organisational context.
